Angie Workman
Angie Workman grew up in rural Iowa. She received her B.S. in biology from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and her Masters of Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa. She previously worked as the Medical/Surgical Therapy Supervisor at Durham Regional Hospital in North Carolina and then was lead therapist for the lung transplant program at University of North Carolina Hospital. Currently she stays home with her three children who have attended The Summit since its second year of opening. Angie and her husband helped start the Summit Parent Organization (SPO) and she was president of the SPO in its first year. Currently she is co-chairing the Capital Campaign.

Anne Winkler, Past Chair
Anne Winkler, MD, PhD, MACP, FACR, spent her childhood in St. Louis, MO. She attended University of Pennsylvania and obtained her BA in anthropology. She received her MD and her PhD in microbiology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Winkler has practiced rheumatology in the Springfield. area for about 20 years, first at the Smith, Glynn, and Calloway Clinic, then as a physician of St. John’s Physician and Clinics and has now establish rheumatology outreach clinics in critical access and rural hospitals. She has served the Arthritis Foundation Board as well as the Board of Governors of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Winkler is on the executive board of Premier Specialty Network. She is presently chair of The Summit Board. She has two sons who have attended The Summit since its inception.
Richard Shimizu
Richard Shimizu, MD, PhD, received his Bachelor’s Degree in microbiology from Brigham Young University, his PhD in molecular biology from the University of Virginia, and his MD from the University of Virginia. After a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Arizona, he moved to Springfield in 1998 and has a medical practice at Ferrell-Duncan clinic. Dr. Shimizu is married with three children. His oldest child attended Greenwood Laboratory School and graduated from Glendale High School. His second child attended Immaculate Conception prior to The Summit Preparatory School opening, while his third child has been at The Summit since Kindergarten. Dr. Shimizu has been involved with The Summit for approximately two years prior to the school opening.
Ashley Dees, Secretary
Ashley Dees has a Master’s in Business Administration. She will pursue a PhD in Business Administration and become a Certified Fraud Examiner in Spring 2011. She currently oversees day-to-day operations with St. John’s Clinic. She is the Treasurer and Executive Board Member of the Springfield Roller Girls. She is on the United Way Community Investment Panel for Healthcare Access and a member of the Greene County Health Commission. She is also a member of HOPE (Helping Out against Pediatric Emergencies) Sertoma since 2009.
Carl Riegel
Carl Riegel, Ed.D. received his Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from Saint Louis University, his Master’s Degree in Management from Webster University and his Ed.D in Higher Education Administration and Organizational Behavior from the Pennsylvania State University. He is currently a professor at Missouri State University where he teaches marketing, strategic management, and destination development in the Hospitality Administration Department. Prior to moving to Springfield in 2008, Carl held administrative positions at Washington State University and Florida Atlantic University. Carl attended independent schools during his primary and secondary schooling and is a graduate of Whitfield School in St. Louis. As such, he is a strong supporter of the educational opportunities afforded by independent schools. His daughter Gabrielle has been a Summit student since 2008.
Jennifer K. Huckfeldt
Jennifer K. Huckfeldt, JD, LLM, grew up in Kansas City. She received her BA from William Jewell College, her JD from the University of Missouri – Columbia, and an LLM in taxation from New York University School of Law. She has been in private law practice since 1992, joining the firm of Carnahan Evans Cantwell & Brown PC in 1999 and subsequently becoming a shareholder in 2001. Jennifer is married to Roger Huckfeldt and they have two daughters. Grace is a sophomore at Springfield Catholic. Rose is in 7th grade and attended Immaculate Conception prior to joining the Summit this year. Jennifer is also on the Board of Directors of NOVA Center of the Ozarks Inc and the Greene County Estate Planning Council.
J. Howard Fisk
J. Howard Fisk was born in Lebanon, Missouri, the son of Dr. Doyle and Lela Barrett Fisk. Howard and Jan Strickland, high school sweethearts, were married in 1970. Jan and Howard lived in Norfolk, Virginia until the end of Howard’s enlistment when they moved to Springfield to attend college at Missouri State University. Upon graduation in 1976, the Fisks founded J. Howard Fisk Limousines, the first company of its kind in southwest Missouri. The Fisk’s have a series of related transportation businesses that serve Springfield’s growing economy. Howard began his community service with the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and the 1976 Bicentennial Commission. Fisk currently serves on over 20 boards, commissions, task force and committees including Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ozark Technical Community College, Chairman of The Springfield Branson National Airport Board, the Cox Medical Center Board of Directors, Treasurer of the Board of the Ozark Transportation Organization, Chairman of the Board of the Local Coordinating Board for Transit.
Tammy J. Young, Treasurer
Tammy J. Young, CPA grew up in Wayne, Nebraska. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting from Wayne State College in 1994. Tammy is with the firm of Roberts, McKenzie, Mangan & Cummings, CPA’s, specializing in taxation of small to medium businesses, especially in the construction and hospitality industries and professional service firms. Prior to this, Tammy was in both the private sector at the Controllership level and public accounting sector. She has a husband of 18 years, Tony and two children.
