Middle School Writing
Middle school writing will focus on writing strategies and processes that will enable students to write in an engaging and focused manner. Students will write for a variety of audiences in non-fictional and fictional formats. Methods will include the writing process, the six traits of writing (voice, ideas, organization, word choice, sentence fluency and convention/grammar), writer’s workshops, peer collaboration, journaling and writing across the curriculum.

Middle School Literature
Middle school literature will focus on literary theory, and analysis. Students will explore interpretation strategies enabling them to determine literary value and respond to multiple genres with critical thinking skills. Class collaboration and discussion will explore literature-to-self and world connections. A variety of classical, fiction, non-fiction and cross-curriculum works will be studied.
