This school year, Summit teachers and students have embarked on cross-grade level collaborative units. Fourth and fifth grade students have been working together on a study of the ocean.
The unit kicked off with a trip to Drury University on September 8th for a presentation by oceanographer Fabien Cousteau.  Fabien has followed in the footsteps of his famous grandfather, Jacques Cousteau in working to protect marine habitats. Some of the students arrived early for the lecture, and while playing outside Clara Thompson Hall, met up with Cousteau, who joined in their free playing time! Other projects in the ocean study unit have included a research project on an ocean animal and presentation of their research in a PowerPoint presentation, as well as ocean floor drawing and 3D models.
