Through the efforts of sixth graders Addison L. & Bethany M., The Summit Prep raised $1,522.11 for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Kindergarten class emptied their piggy banks and raised over a third of that amount, $526.97!
While they knew the class who raised the most money received cupcakes, these students also knew the pennies were worth a lot more than just sweets. During a contentious battle with the 4th/5th grade class, where at one point the big kids pulled ahead in the rankings, Hudson M. told his class, “Guys! It’s not about the money, it’s about the people!!” What a great thing to remember!
Jason Hite and his son Ethan came to The Summit to receive the check Tuesday. Ethan is an 11-year-old Leukemia survivor, and together they shared his story with the Kindergarten class. Thank you kindergarteners for reminding us all that anyone, big or small, can make a huge difference!
