Nancy Wrinkle
Beginners Teacher,

Nancy is beginning her third year with The Summit. She graduated from the University of Missouri – St. Louis with my Bachelors in Business Administration and minor in Management Information Systems. Nancy is excited to be in the classroom, working with such a wonderful age, and helping her beginners soar above and beyond all expectations. Nancy and her husband Brandon have been married since 2002 and have two children, Morgan and Spencer.

Beginners Teacher Aide,

Juliana Alber is excited to be working as an aide with the beginners this year. She is a graduate of the University of Central Missouri and is working on her Masters in Special Education at Missouri State. She can’t wait to meet the students and get started on what will be a great school year.

Amanda Cowart
PreK Teacher,

Amanda has been working at The Summit since 2010, and has been the PreK teacher since 2011. Her interests include reading, writing, spending time with family and friends, biking, traveling, and eating delicious foods — especially pizza. Amanda lives in Springfield with her husband, Isaac; 2-year-old son, James; and dog, Remy.

Melissa Kimmons
Kindergarten Teacher,

This will be Melissa’s 7th year of teaching and 3rd year at the Summit. She comes from a background in Elementary/Early Childhood Education and has spent time teaching 1st grade, preschool (2-5), Summit Beginners, and now will be starting her second year in Summit Kindergarten. The Kimmons family have been long time supporters of The Summit and will have two children (Beginners and 6th grade) attending the school this fall.

Katie Heet
First Grade Teacher,

Katie Heet is currently in her sixth year of teaching at The Summit, and she is eager to be working with her first grade students and serve as the Lower School Program Coordinator. She earned a Masters in Teaching in Early Childhood Education from Webster University and a Bachelors in English from St. Louis University. She is also working on her doctoral degree through Creighton University. Katie strives to engage her students in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that enable them to discover the joy of learning.

Rachal Tarrasch
Second Grade Teacher,

Rachal Tarrasch is currently in her 3rd year of teaching 2nd grade at the Summit. She holds a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies and a M.S. in Education with dual certification in special and general education.  She is currently working to become a certified language specialist to help students with dyslexia and is also working on her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership through MIZZOU–Go Tigers!  In her free time you may find her planning a trip, attending one of her book clubs, doing yoga, watching old movies, or spending time with friends and family.

Crystal Yarnell
Third Grade Teacher,

Crystal has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Drury University with certifications in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She has additional training in Kagan Cooperative Learning, Love and Logic, and REACH (Cultural Diversity in the classroom). Crystal is excited to begin her fourth year at The Summit. She believes when students feel her enthusiasm for learning they will be able to take the initiative to see how important it is to get the most out of every learning experience. She believes parent and teacher communication is a valuable part of a student’s success.

Julie Anderson
Fourth Grade Teacher,

Julie is beginning her ninth year as a teacher at The Summit. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Missouri State University and a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Drury University. She is trained in Four Blocks Literacy, Kagan Cooperative Learning, Everyday Math, and Love and Logic. Julie is a believer in community service and seeks ways to connect students to their community. In her time outside the classroom, Julie is often on the road to Kansas City to visit her two daughters. At home, she enjoys yoga classes, reading, is a certified Master Gardener, and has recently become a beekeeper.

Julie Simonson
Fifth GradeTeacher,

This will be Julie Simonson’s 6th year of teaching elementary school. She previously taught one year at The Summit in the Kindergarten classroom. Her degree is from MSU in Elementary Education and is also certified in Early Childhood. Prior to teaching, she owned and operated Ozark Mountain Gymnastics for 23 years. Julie is married to her husband, Tim. She is a mother of 5, ranging in age from 28-7 years old. She is also the grandmother to 4 wonderful children. Her hobbies are reading, sewing, crocheting and swimming.

Upper School Teacher,

Mr. McKee loves to learn about all subjects and share that knowledge, especially in linking various academic studies and applying them to the “real world.” He firmly believes in a family-like, interactive, and multidiscipline education. At the Summit Prep, Mr. McKee works with an amazing team to challenge and engage upper school students.

Sandy Frye
Upper School Teacher,

Mrs. Frye has a Bachelor of Arts specializing in communications as well as a secondary teaching certificate from Drury University. She has completed additional graduate work in the areas of reading, special education, teaching and evaluating writing, adolescent and African-American literature studies. Prior to her career in education, Sandy worked in the advertising industry as a media, public relations and copy writing professional.  Mrs. Frye is active in the local International Adoptive Families organization and enjoys reading, music, art, running, photography and animals.  She lives in Springfield with her husband Jeff, and daughters, Olivia and Anna.

Patrick Misterovich
Upper School Teacher,

Patrick Misterovich has degrees from Wayne State University and the University of Michigan. In addition to teaching, he has worked in IT administration, invented products, and was a stay-at-home dad. At The Summit Prep, Mr. Misterovich teaches writing, social sciences, history, and serves as the school’s IT Director. Mr. Misterovich and his wife have 3 children at The Summit Prep.

Laura Stroup
Upper School Science Teacher,

This is Mrs. Stroup’s eighth year teaching upper school science at The Summit.  In addition to teaching science, Mrs. Stroup loves reading, running, shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.  Mrs. Stroup has her B.S. in Animal Ecology with an emphasis in Environmental Education from Iowa State University.  She is working on her Masters in Education from Drury University.  Before joining the middle school team at The Summit, Mrs. Stroup worked for several years in the Education Department at Wonders of Wildlife, teaching science classes and camps.

Shawn Keech
Music Teacher,

Shawn Keech holds a Bachelor of Music Education (with an Instrumental Music option) from Missouri State University.  He enjoys composing original music, creating custom arrangements for student groups, exploring multiple instruments, reading, and spending time with his family.  This is his sixth year teaching at the Summit.

Sarah Leighninger
Spanish Teacher,

Sarah has been with the Summit since it began in 2005. She has a B.A. in Spanish from Missouri Southern State University. Sarah has served as a lead teacher, a member of the accreditation steering committee, and the ISACS teacher representative for The Summit.  This year Sarah is teaching both lower and middle school Spanish. She lives in Saddlebrooke with her husband, Brad, and their two daughters, Molly (6) and Ellie (3).  They are expecting a new addition to the family in early September. In her free time Sarah enjoys playing volleyball, traveling, sailing, and participating in BBQ competitions.

Lisa Murphy
Art Teacher,

Lisa Murphy received a Bachelor of Science degree from MSU with lifetime certification to teach all subjects K-8. She attended Drury University for graduate studies, K-12 Art and Gifted Education. Lisa serves on the board of the Branson Arts Council and the Tri-Lakes Community Theatre. She and her husband have two daughters and her hobbies include: playing guitar, painting, singing, and gardening.

Jill Phillips
PE Teacher,

Jill has been involved in education intermediately for the past ten years working as a substitute teacher, Speech Implementer for Early Childhood Special Ed as well as K-12 students, and teaching preschool. Her goal is to work with children and help them develop a life-long healthy lifestyle. She believes physical fitness can help them thrive both academically and socially.  Jill is also a mother of five ages 6-14.  She enjoys water sports, boating, travel, volleyball, tennis and watching her kids play sports.
