Monday, April 15

Hi Kids -

I am oh so impressed with your law day essays, I might just give you all a big hug when I get back!  You put a lot of effort into a hard, and boring topic, without even asking if it was for a grade.  The papers were well written and intelligent.

Today, I am helping my dad with some pretty serious heath issues so I won’t be at school; however, I am happy that he was moved from Cassville to Cox Hospital, so hopefully, I won’t have to miss too much school this week.  So, for today do the quick write below and answer in your on-line journals.  After that  establish books groups (around 4 or 5 people) and read and discuss out loud with each other.

To Kill a Mockingbird, chapters 14 – 17

or

The Catcher in the Rye 3-6 for some of you, and 1-3 for others.

Try your best to analyze what is happening with the characters and the plot, and then we will discuss as a whole group on Tuesday or Wednesday.

If you get done with these things, you can study for Wednesday’s vocab. test.

5 Minute Remembering - quick write (swiped from Mr. M.)

Think back to when you were 7 or 8 years old (1st or 2nd grade).

Who were your friends?
What were your favorite tv shows?
What games did you play on the playground? Who did you play them with?
What toys did you like to play with?
What did you want for your birthday?
What would you do on Saturday mornings?
What did you like to eat?
Did you ever build an awesome pillow fort? Tell me about it.
How would you have answered the following questions:
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Who is your hero?
What is the scariest thing in the world?
If you could go anywhere, where would you want to go?
What kind of birthday party do you want?

Once everyone is done feel free to share with each other, just don’t interrupt Mrs. Stroup’s class.

Wednesday and Thursday

1. Finish law day essay

2.  Have at least one peer, and one teacher or parent edit your paper.  You can share or e-mail your paper to Mr. Misterovich or Mrs. Bowerman and they will help edit too – make sure you let them know.

3.  Spell check again.  Use a 12 pt. font and double space.

4.  Create cover sheet (example in Google docs.)

5.  Print and give to Mrs. Frye

6.  These must be done by 11:00 a.m. on Friday – do not wait until Friday morning to make last minute additions or edits.
