Kindergarten through 5th grade students celebrated their final days of Spanish class with fiestas! Students had a blast hitting the piñata, diving for candy, enjoying tasty snacks, and watching a Spanish movie, Ferdinand. Muchas gracias to all that contributed items for our fiestas. It was a great close to the 2017-2018 school year. See you all tomorrow at Field Day!
The Summit’s all school Culture Day was a huge success. Beginners through 5th grade students were divided into teams and traveled around through 7 Spanish-speaking countries, where they experienced different cultural activities planned and led by high school students. Some of the highlights were making tortillas in Mexico, dancing in Colombia, Picasso art games in Spain, a Peruvian scavenger hunt, and Guatemalan relay races. Students also carried their very own passports with them throughout the day and received a stamp as they visited each new country. Middle school students played a major role as well as they were the team leaders and responsible for making sure their team made it safely to each country. Students, faculty, and administration were engaged, having fun and celebrating the world around us. It was a true display of what makes The Summit different and we hope to make it an annual event.
