M.J., on her freshmen daughter's first day of Spanish
"My daughter just completed her first day as a high school
freshman. During the drive home she indicated to me that the Spanish
teacher was impressed with her knowledge of Spanish and proceeded to ask her how she knew so much Spanish. She mentioned Sarah Leighninger
and Kevin Keller at The Summit Preparatory School taught her Spanish and that
she had no previous lessons prior to The Summit. Keep up the great work and thank you for being a teacher!"
To Mr. Keller (Explorers' Spanish) "After 2 classes of Spanish, I had to let you know how I was doing. I am taking Spanish one, and I really regret not taking Spanish two. In the past two days, I was the only one in the class to know what comer, ir, azul, rojo, and comprar meant. Also, not one other student in the class knew how to say "how are you" in Spanish. I apologize for not taking your advice about which Spanish class to take, because I just sit in class and get bored of raising my hand over and over again because I know every single answer. I asked my Spanish teacher if this year we would conjugate verbs and her response was "at the end of the year." My mouth dropped! Conjugating verbs was one of the things I learned in 7th grade!!! Then she passed out a sheet asking us what we already know in Spanish, and I filled up the entire page with everything I knew! It took me a really long time to write it all out, but it made me realize how much I have learned. I was amazed at how far ahead I was from everyone else in that class! I am going to talk to my Spanish teacher and hopefully it is not too late to move to Spanish two. Thank you for teaching me everything you did, and please tell remind the 8th graders that they need to take your advice, because every single one of them know way too much in Spanish to take Spanish one with students who have never taken it before. Also, I looked at your website for this year and it looks great! I miss being able to have LearnSpanish.com to help me! In high school, I get a textbook to reference to...and that's it!! No LearnSpanish, no website showing my assignments, just a big textbook. But it's the way I will be learning for the next 4 years, so I better get used to it! I hope the Summit has a great year! Thanks again for everything you've taught me in Spanish!! Adios!"
(The Spanish Message Boards have since been opened to alumni students for their further study)
V.P. on her sons transfer to a school in Canada "(Both of my sons) were enrolled to the
Grandview Heights School today. (My oldest son) was even tested at math and was accepted
at the 9th grade!! It could not have happened without your help. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!"
B.A. and T.A., on their daughter's education at The Summit
"We are thrilled with the education our daughter is receiving! She is able to progress at her own level and is encouraged to explore new and different topics and ideas. We came seeking a higher standard in academics. We've received that and so much more. Kids really do get the BEST education at The Summit Preparatory School."
A.W., on her sons' transition to The Summit "My sons have thrived at The Summit. My older son, in particular, had not enjoyed school until he started at the Summit but now he hops into the car every morning excited about the upcoming day at school. He has matured in such positive ways thanks to his great teachers. My younger son, who loves math, has been able to move more quickly ahead in math due to the Summit's approach to education."
