Educational Web-Sites

The following sites are great for student use this summer.  All kids love to play on the computer and these links can help your child learn at the same time.  Hang the list by the computer for quick reference or bookmark the sites for your child.  Sit with your child on new games/programs to help them with directions and/or understanding.

1.     www.bestedsites.com

This site has a list of topics (games, activities and fun/Astronomy & Space Sites/Language Arts Sites/Math Sites/ Science Sites/ Social Studies Sites) that you click on and then pick from a variety of related sites.  This one could keep your child busy all summer!  A few places to visit:

Games, Activities and Fun:  Math baseball, cyber chase, etch-a-sketch, fun brain, and gameaquarium

Astronomy & Space

Language Arts: wacky web tales and more!

Math Sites: Change maker, base-10 blocks, math goodies

Science: space and body

Social Studies: colonial kids, Plymouth, early America and more!

2.    www.pbskids.org

Many child friendly games like word girl, eco-world, cyber chase & more!

This site was recommended to me by a kindergarten parent.  It is a vocabulary based program that donates grains of rice to under fed countries when students get correct answers.
