Finishing Touches

This was certainly a busy and exciting week in first grade.  Despite the many distractions, students were hard at work preparing for the end of the trimester celebration.  This included completing oral and written assessments, assembling our city, and publishing writing pieces we have worked on throughout the trimester.

Today, we continued to celebrate our accomplishments as we read The Little House by Virginia Lee Burton.  Through the book we recapped our science and social studies themes of caring for our environment and communities.  Afterwards, students played together in our city.

Next week, we will learn about Costa Rica as we integrate Spanish cultural studies into our classroom.  Students will learn about Costa Rican land forms, the rain and cloud forest, and everyday life.
