First graders are now learning dipthongs or vowel phonemes in spelling. This week’s word lists contain all words with the “oo” pattern. Students selected 5 “oo” words with the /u/ sound as in “book” and 5 “oo” words with the /ew/ sound as in “school.” Word work and phonics activities throughout the week will focus on these sounds.
