Solar System

This week, first grade students are delving into our first science topic, the solar system.    Working in pairs, students read about the solar system, learning new vocabulary terms including:  asteroid, classify, comet, meteor, universe, and vast.  They completed graphic organizers as well as comprehension questions focusing on recalling facts and making comparisons.  Features of nonfiction texts (table of contents, glossary, bold face words, captions, diagrams) will be highlighted through various readings.
