First graders have learned that our planet, a home to living things, is a very special place. But what would the Earth look if we could open it up and look inside? Reading aloud Planet Earth/Inside Out by Gail Gibbons, students learned just that. They enjoyed making construction paper models showing the crust, mantle, inner core, and outer core. After gluing their model together, students were encouraged to record facts about each layer.
