R Blends

This week in spelling, students are working on r blends.  A blends consists of two consonants grouped together in which each letter keeps its own sound. Reading and spelling words with blends blends can be difficult because two consonants within one syllable feels and sounds different than a consonant and a vowel within one syllable.  For our individual spelling lists students selected at least one word with each of the following initial r blends: br, cr, dr, fr, gr, pr, and tr.
