Election Day

Summit first graders have been learning all about the election.  They enjoyed watching a BrainPOP Jr. video about presidents and completed activities such as drawing a picture of their favorite president, playing a presidents matching game, and writing a letter to the president sharing ideas about how our country can be improved.  Through read alouds, Time for Kids, and independent reading, students have learned and discussed election terminology including campaign, candidate, convention, nominee, and party. Today, after completing a voter registration card, first graders went into the voting booth and cast their vote for president.  Other votes taking place today included voting for 4th/5th grade “Political Parties” and voting for our favorite Missouri Library Association Building Block Picture Book.
