Doubles

This week we are focusing heavily learning our addition and subtraction doubles facts.  An addition doubles fact repeats the same addend, adding a number to itself, where as a subtraction doubles fact is any number minus itself.  Using manipulatives, first graders are practicing combining and taking away groups of the same number.  Working with flashcards, poems, fact families, and games allows students to reinforce and apply their understanding of this addition and subtraction strategy.
