Inclined Plane

Inclined Planes to the Resuce by Sharon Thales introduced students to the first of six simple machines we will be learning about this trimester.  Simple machines have one or no moving parts, and they are used to make work easier.  An inclined plane is a flat surface that slants up or down from one end to the other.  Today, partnering with second graders, we brainstormed numerous examples of inclined planes, and then created posters illustrating our selected examples.  Listed below are just a few of those examples:  roller coaster, road, wheelchair ramp, dump truck, slide, skateboard ramp, and parking garage ramp.  Help your child to be on the lookout for other examples of inclined planes!
