Quotation Marks

What better week to introduce quotation marks than our week focusing on qu!  Today, through read aloud, we pointed out quotation marks, explaining how they are used to indicate that someone is speaking.  After working in pairs to read the book Winter Vacation, first graders added quotation marks to sentences from the book.  Then, they wrote their own sentences using quotation marks.  As this is a brand new skill, it is something we will revisit more in depth after winter break.
