Reading on the Patio

This morning we enjoyed independent reading time on the patio as first graders each found a comfortable spot to sit and read from their reading folder. Through our reading folders, we continue to practice reading on an individual level. Word work and comprehension strategies are interwoven through various activities. Over the past week, for example, students have looked for compound words in their individual books, drawing pictures and writing sentences to go with their selected words.
