Happy Halloween

Today was filled with Halloween fun, as each of our centers tied into some aspect of Halloween.  Mrs. Heet shared her favorite Halloween read aloud, The Hallo-wiener. The story teaches an important less about friendship and treating others kindly, as Oscar the dachshund saves Halloween.  Tying in current events, students read a TFK all about bats and white nose syndrome, a disease in which a fungus grows on a bat’s body, damaging its wings.  As we are learning about symmetry, students made their own symmetrical bats.  Working with nouns, students completed a Halloween themed common and proper noun sort and drew a Halloween scene in which they labeled all of the nouns.  We ended the day with a BrainPop Jr. video about Halloween, emphasizing the history of the holiday.
