LAD Fair

Are you looking for something educational to do on yet another snow day?  This trimester, first grade students will have the opportunity to participate in LAD Fair, a regional writing contest.  In preparation, students will have the opportunity to create and select pieces of writing that they have completed this year, revise and edit pieces, and then I will submit them by the contest deadline this March. Participation is entirely optional, but I do try to submit at least one piece from each student, in addition to books or anthologies compiled by the entire class or small groups of students.  At the contest, writing samples are read and then judged by other area teachers.  LAD Fair categories and descriptions can be found at the link below. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or would like additional guidance as to which categories to select.
