You Will Be My Friend!

Through the shared read aloud You Will Be My Friend!, we introduced our next author study, Peter Brown.  In the story, Lucy, a bear, wants to make a new friend.  But, befriending the forest critters is harder than she thinks.  Luckily, Lucy does not give up and decides to just be herself.  When she least expects it, a new friend appears.

After reading the book students participated in several friendship related projects.  Many first graders accepted the challenge of learning to braid a friendship bracelet or necklace.  Others created posters and cards writing and illustrating ways to be a good friend.  Finally, we watched You Will Be My Friend! The Interview.
