Number Bonds

Continuing to build number sense, first grade students have been working with number bonds.  A number bond is a visual representation of the relationship between a number and the parts that combine to make that number.  Examining part-whole relationship through number bonds helps students to better understand the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction.  Through continued practice with number bonds, students will reinforce addition and subtraction strategies and apply basic algebraic concepts.
