Native American Research

IMG_0322 2

First grade students are busy preparing their Native American reports for our celebration next week.  After selecting a tribe, students used a variety of books and websites to research information on their tribe. With the help of a 5th grade partner, students were asked to find the following information and record it on a graphic organizer: tribe, meaning of the tribes name, clothing, shelter, tools or weapons, crafts or symbols, important animals, interesting facts, and references.

Following the steps of the writing process, students will use the information in their graphic organizer to write a first draft on GoogleDocs.  After completing the draft, students will share their document for feedback.  Students will be asked to respond to comments, revising and editing their document accordingly.  After several rounds of edits, students will begin formatting their writing.  Then we will publish and print our final documents.
