Welcome Back!

First grade students were eager to return to school, and it didn’t take long to get into the swing of things.  Listed below are activities completed today.

  • Students reviewed double digit addition without regrouping and completed addition word problems.
  • Students practiced the reading comprehension strategy making text to text connections.
  • Students have learned about vertebrates and invertebrates, sorting animals and building a model of a spinal column.
  • Students worked in pairs to read Animal Skeletons.  Then, they selected to animals from the book to compare and contrast using a Venn diagram.  Students will have the option of using this information to draft a compare and contrast piece for the LAD Fair
  • Students wrote in their journals about their spring break and shared their writing.
  • Students worked to polish and publish writing samples eligible for entry into the LAD Fair writing contest.  Entries will be submitted this Friday.
