The Honey Makers

Continuing to learn about insects, today, we focused on honey bees. Students shared a book by Gail Gibbons, The Honey Makers.  We learned about bee hives, kinds of honeybees and their roles, the bee life cycle, pollination, bee dances, and honey making.   Students were thrilled to have our 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Anderson, a bee keeper, come to talk with the class answering our many questions.  They conducted a pollination experiment and shared a special bee snack of Honey Maid graham crackers and honey from Mrs. Anderson’s hive.
