Wonders of Wildlife

Today, first grade students enjoyed a visit from Wonders of Wildlife as they brought live animals to explain animal appetites, food chains, and food webs. Through the outreach experience, students discussed the difference between herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores.  They learned more about and had the opportunity to touch a rabbit, the Great Plains rat snake,  the Swainson hawk, and a Madagascar hissing cockroach.  Back in the classroom, first graders researched and constructed their own food chains, identifying producers, consumers (first, second, and third order), decomposers, and scavengers.

This presentation was funded through Summit science and STEM funds.  Thank you donors!
