First Day of First Grade

We had an amazing first day in first grade!  Students quickly settled into their morning work activity drawing pictures of themselves, their classroom, their lunch, their teacher, and their school on the first day.  After morning work, we held our first morning meeting. Students participated in several get to know you games as we welcomed new friends and got to know one another.

Throughout the day we read aloud several books about being first graders including First Grade Jitters and The Night Before First Grade.  During stations, students wrote about their night before first grade, completed a “get to know” poster, made designs with pattern blocks, assembled math puzzles, and read back to school books.  Students went to music and Spanish, had lunch on the patio, participated in GoNoodle, listened to the start our chapter book read aloud, and played on the playground.  A highlight of the day, first grade computers are up and running!
