The Water Cycle

Learning about the water cycle, first grade students are understanding the the process of how water moves and changes. Students are discussing key steps and terms of the process including precipitation, run off, accumulation, evaporation, transpiration, water vapor, and condensation.  They have enjoyed viewing brief videos, singing and dancing to water cycle songs, sharing read alouds such as A Drop Around the World, creating make and take books, and diagraming the water cycle.  Conducting a related experiment, we created our own water cycle in a bag.  Students look forward to making and recording observations.  Next up, we will further explore states of matter.
