Vowel Digraph oo

This week first grade students are learning about vowel digraph oo.  They have learned that oo usually makes two sounds, the short sound as in book and the long sound as in moon.  After brainstorming words following these two patterns, students selected 15 words for their weekly spelling list.  As we practice spelling at school, we are also practicing our handwriting and reviewing proper D’Nealian letter formation.  Students are also encouraged to practice their words in written format at home.
