Dickerson Park Zoo

Third trimester learning about animals and habitats culminated in a final field trip of the year.  First graders had a fantastic day visiting the Dickerson Park Zoo!  While there, students participated in a conservation education mini- class titled Fur, Feathers, and Scales.  Students demonstrated their knowledge of animal classifications and enjoyed learning more about mammals, birds, and reptiles.  After the class, students explored the zoo.  They especially enjoyed finding    various animals they have researched this trimester. After lunch at the train station, students took a train ride, with most choosing to stop by the giraffe exhibit for a brief educational talk.  We ended the day playing on the zoo playground.  Thank you parent volunteers for joining us!
