Science Skills

Spread out across our basketball court, you will see 16 1st grade bodies working hard and thinking about scientific observations.  Before our time outside, we watched a Brain Pop Jr. about making observations and the variety of ways we can do that.  The students were instructed to use 4 of their 5 senses (I discouraged tasting!) to observe the new Summit backyard.  We had students observing the variety of vehicle sounds, the feeling of wind blowing, the sight of our giant shade trees, and even the smell of fresh cut grass.  Students used words and pictures to share what they were observing from their spot in the backyard.
