Shapes Galore!

This past week has been spent learning about quadrilaterals and wrapping up our study on 2D shapes.  We learned that quadrilaterals are closed 2D shapes that have 4 sides and 4 vertices.  Students each picked a quadrilateral of their choice and had to come up with a quote that the quadrilateral would say about itself! For example, we had a rectangle say, “I am a rectangle.  I have 4 vertices.”  We also had some trapezoids share that they have 4 sides or 4 angles.

As a conclusion of 2D shapes, we created our own shape pizzas!  Kids had a blast picking out their shape toppings and creating their masterpiece.  First graders then recorded how much of each ingredient they used!
