Needs and Wants

Over the past two weeks, first grade students are learning about needs and wants and examples of goods and services. Students have learned that a need is something one must have in order to survive such as air, food, water, and shelter.   A want, however, is something one would like to have but can survive without, such as toys, games, televisions, and computers. In addition to viewing brief videos on the topic, we have read a variety of fiction and non-fiction books.

To expand our learning, we have completed sorting activities, played games, and created a needs and wants poster showing our understanding of the difference between the two.  Be sure to check Friday Folders to see your child’s poster!
