How To Decorate a Christmas Tree

With the holiday season in full swing, we use this time to reflect and review the skills we have learned so far this year.  Earlier in this trimester, first grade students learned and explored how-to writing and had the opportunity to create and share their own how to books.

Today, we reflected back on the how to writing process and the students wrote “How To Decorate a Christmas Tree” books.  Following our writing process, students brainstormed ideas about how the decorating process occurs at their house.  Then they drafted their ideas and worked towards their final copies.  Once they completed their writing, they constructed their books and enjoyed sharing their final products!
