Natural Resources

Over the past few days, we jumped into our first science unit: Natural Resources. Natural resources are things found in nature that can be used by people.  First graders have been learning about and discussing the differences between living and non living natural resources as well as natural vs. manmade resources.

Through a variety of activities, we have been learning about the importance of these resources and how we need them to survive.  They provide us with food, shelter, clothing, heat, and electricity. We sorted a variety of items into two categories of natural and manmade resources and have also done partner puzzles to see the direct link between the manmade and natural resource.  Students worked on mini books to help show and share their knowledge!

Our scavenger hunt outside was a great way to wrap up our week!  Students compiled their own list of man made and natural resources they found in our backyard!
