Service Learning

During the week of September 9-13, students in grades three through five will be leading a service-learning project for the SPS Clothing Bank. Students and families can drop off clothing donations in The Summit lobby anytime during the week.

The Springfield Council (all Springfield Public Schools PTA units combined) of PTA’s operates the Clothing Bank. It is staffed entirely by volunteers and stocked solely through donations. They serve any Springfield Public School student, who qualifies for free or reduced lunch from pre-K through High School.

They can use clothing in sizes 3T through adult for pre-school age children, in the Early Childhood Education schools, through high school students. They deeply appreciate donations of GENTLY USED or LIKE NEW items: shirts, shorts, pants, jackets, winter coats, dresses, pajamas, shoes or accessories, backpacks, and handbags. Items must be without stains, holes, tears or excessive wear. They always need BRAND NEW, in the package, socks and underwear, especially packages of 5 or more. They cannot accept bedding, furniture or household items (due to a lack of space).
