STEM

We are excited to have added a new element to our class schedule! Mr. Powers (Upper School science teacher) will now be joining us on Tuesdays from 10:20-10:50 for STEM. Today was our first time having Mr. Powers join us, and we had so much fun! First grade students learned that STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math. Mr. Powers brought his guitar to the classroom for a lesson about sound. We learned that sound is created when something vibrates. On a guitar, sound is created when the strings vibrate, and the size of the string changes how high or low it will sound. Mr. Powers even wrapped up by playing us some songs and students danced along. Did you know that Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, the Alphabet Song, and Baa Baa Black Sheep all have the same tune? How neat!
