The Importance of Brain Breaks

Brain breaks are short, energizing bursts of activity that boost blood flow, send oxygen to the brain, and help kids better retain information. Research has shown that brain breaks increase students’ on-task behavior AND the amount of physical activity they get every day so it’s a win-win.

First graders at The Summit take a variety of brain breaks throughout the day. We love GoNoodle dances, Kidz Bop Dance-Alongs and breathing exercises. We use the drain, balloon, pretzel and S.T.A.R. breathing exercises. Ask your student what their favorite brain break is!

The Summit Preparatory School is a fully accredited, non-religious, private school offering a full-time seated independent education for students in Springfield, Ozark, Nixa, Rogersville, and the greater Southwest Missouri area. We have state of the art facilities, highly-qualified teachers and staff, and a large range of educational programming. Interested in enrolling your child? Learn more about our admissions process.
