Exploring the Big Backyard

With the help of Mr. Powers, we went on a tour of our very own Big Backyard this week! We learned about some native and non-native species that can be found in our backyard, and also learned what it means if a species is invasive.


This vine is called “winter creeper” and it is an invasive species that can kill trees. It takes nutrients from the tree by growing roots into the trunk.

These big rocks aren’t just fun to climb on, they also contain many, many fossils!
