Independent Reading

First graders have been practicing independent reading. This gives students a moment to just relax and enjoy a good book, while also helping them practice valuable reading and self-control skills. Students also got to try out many of our “comfy seats” for the very first time! Eventually, we will read for longer and longer periods of time as they build their reading stamina. Ask your child what their favorite book from our classroom library has been so far!

The Summit Preparatory School is a fully accredited, non-religious, private school offering a full-time seated independent education for students in Springfield, Ozark, Nixa, Rogersville, and the greater Southwest Missouri area. We have state of the art facilities, highly-qualified teachers and staff, and a large range of educational programming. Interested in enrolling your child? Learn more about our admissions process.
