Native American Research

First graders have spent the last month learning all about Native Americans! As part of the unit, students are working with a partner to research a Native American tribe. They’re learning research skills, and becoming better writers by practicing nonfiction writing.

Students are currently gathering information about where their selected tribe lived, what they ate, and what their homes, clothes, and art looked like. After completing their research, students will create a poster with their partner to present the information they learned to their peers. They will then design and create an artifact to represent their tribe’s history.
