Needs and Wants

First graders have recently been learning about the difference between needs and wants. We have discussed how a need is something you must have to be healthy and safe, and a want is something you would like to have but could live without.

This week, first graders used magazine clippings to create collages of their needs and wants. Check out the images below to see some of the collages!

We also brainstormed a list of needs and wants that people might have. Here is what the first graders came up with!

Needs:

water, coat, healthy foods, plants, phone for emergencies, family, glasses, scarf, shoes, vegetables, a house

Wants:

pets, puzzles, video games, iPads, donuts, toys, phone for playing, Prodigy
