Hobbies, Likes, and Dislikes in Spanish

These past couple weeks, first grade has worked hard to learn, practice, and apply various verbs in Spanish to discuss their likes and dislikes. These sentences are like simple recipes: “me gusta” is how we say “I like”, then we plug in a verb such as “cantar” (to sing), and suddenly, we have “me gusta cantar” or “I like to sing”!!

The possibilities are endless, and it was great to talk about what kind of hobbies they enjoyed or didn’t enjoy!

The most suspenseful game we played was a collaborative memory matching challenge. It was a challenge to keep track of 42 different cards, but we stayed vigilant and eventually matched them all! I’m really excited to have unlocked this element of the Spanish language with the 1st graders!!
