This week, we dove into our first science topic of the year, the solar system. \u00a0Joan Sweeny’s\u00a0Me and My Place in Space<\/em> provided students with a frame of reference for beginning to learn about the solar system as the main character took the reader on a tour of the solar system, the Milky Way, and beyond. \u00a0For our first project, \u00a0students will be creating an accordion book illustrating their place in space starting with drawings of themselves and their room progressing out into the universe. \u00a0Next week, after completing a brief overview of the solar system, we will begin studying the sun and stars.<\/p>\n
