{"id":2703,"date":"2015-02-17T07:52:42","date_gmt":"2015-02-17T13:52:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thesummitprep.org\/1st\/?p=2703"},"modified":"2015-02-17T08:00:21","modified_gmt":"2015-02-17T14:00:21","slug":"snow-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thesummitprep.org\/1st\/2015\/02\/17\/snow-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Snow Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Please visit the Snow Day page of the first grade blog for snow and winter related educational activities. \u00a0Listed below are a few more suggestions of optional activities.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Write a LAD Fair entry. \u00a0A few category suggestions and descriptions are included:\n<ul>\n<li>Media Review &#8211; \u00a0A critical report\/evaluation of a book, movie, play, CD, etc. Should include a brief summary of the work, a description of its strengths and weaknesses, opinion of the work, and evidence supporting writer\u2019s opinions.<\/li>\n<li>Book Report &#8211;\u00a0Besides the author and title, should include a brief synopsis of the book, an overview of character, setting and point of view, topic and theme, the writer\u2019s reaction to the book and direct quotations from the book to support general statements.<\/li>\n<li>Essay with Original Photos \u2013 Short fiction or non-fiction work that deals with one subject. Original photos (may be digital) should accompany and reflect the essay. (No computer graphics or Internet photos.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Practice for the LAD Spelling Bee.
