<\/p>\nThis morning in math workshop, students reviewed different ways to represent numbers. We reviewed standard form, expanded form, base-ten form, and word form, and practiced by sorting number representations as a group. We also reviewed math vocabulary and practiced sorting two and three digit numbers from greatest to least. Students first worked in pairs, then in small groups, and finally in large groups to put their number cards in order.<\/p>\n

To check for understanding, students completed a short activity where they looked at sequences of numbers and determined if they were arranged correctly (\u201ctrue\u201d) or incorrectly (\u201cfalse\u201d). This gave them a chance to explain their thinking and practice carefully checking their work.<\/p>\n

We wrapped up our workshop with a bit of independent practice, giving each student the chance to apply today\u2019s learning on their own. It was a productive morning, and I\u2019m proud of the effort and teamwork the class showed while tackling number sense in so many different ways!<\/p>\n
