We have had an AWESOME week in the 3rd grade! In math, we finished learning about the Distributive and Communicative properties. Next week, we will learn about the Associative property and begin 2 digit x 1 digit multiplication.
In writing, the kids are working hard on their “Famous Missourian” biographies. The kids have enjoyed the research portion immensely. Next week the writing begins!
During reading, we are continuing our unit on Roald Dahl. This week we had some great discussions about his biography and the kids learned how to do a character analysis on one of the characters from “James and the Giant Peach”. The students learned that it’s not enough to for example, describe a character as “kind”, without providing text evidence that backs up that claim.
In social studies, the students learned all about the “land bridge” theory of how humans migrated from Asia into North America and eventually, Missouri. We began studying the Adena, Hopewell and Mississippian cultures and tribes that were in Missouri THOUSANDS of years ago. The kids have been SO engaged and inquisitive.
Enjoy some pics of our week!!
