Trimester 2 Accomplishments and Wrap Up!

What an incredible trimester it has been!

Students proudly shared their Lewis & Clark Explorer Trunks, complete with journals documenting the famous journey with important dates and facts. They also demonstrated a science experiment from our Heat, Sound, and Light unit. Using food dye in warm and cold water, they showed how warm water particles move faster, causing the dye to spread more quickly. They did an amazing job showcasing their learning!

This week, students received a very exciting surprise! The History Museum lent us an authentic, life-sized Lewis and Clark explorer trunk filled with incredible artifacts. Many of the items were replicas of the actual tools and resources used on the expedition, helping bring the journey to life!

Students had the chance to explore some truly fascinating pieces, including a replica coat worn during the expedition, a portable writing desk with a feather pen, inkwell, and dry ink packet, pressed plant specimens collected along the journey, and sample gifts the explorers brought for Native American tribes, such as blue beads, a blue handkerchief, and peace medals. They also examined a compass, magnifying glass, powder horn, and more.
