Social Studies – Famous Missourians Guest Speaker

This week, a guest speaker from the History Museum joined our class to lead us through an exciting activity all about Famous Missourians from Springfield!

As part of our social studies curriculum, students learned about the lives of remarkable people who called Missouri home. They discovered details about each person, including what they’re famous for, when they lived, and the educational path they took.

Students partnered up and each took on a role. One partner served as the interviewer, asking thoughtful questions to learn more about their famous Missourian. The other stepped into the role of the historical figure themselves. After reading an article about their person together, pairs chose props that represented their famous Missourian’s life and legacy, then performed their interview live in front of the class.
